Christopher Kane is a relative newcomer to the fashion designer ranks, although he has gained a reputation for being the darling of the fashion world.

D.I.E was conceived from their shared predilections for comic books, horror movies, in addition to music from bands including The Guana Batz and The Meteors, also their most influential pastime and concrete enthrallment: skateboarding. Local Celebrity was formed in Illinois during 2003. They design, develop and produce vintage washed t shirts and enjoy a pronounced celebrity following.

The legend has it that the initial idea for Local Celebrity hit the founders whilst they were attending the Cornerstone rock festival in rural Illinois.

‘We were rocking out in the middle of a corn field when inspiration struck us like heavy metal thunder, “Let’s ditch our jobs and start a t-shirt company!” So, pretty much just like that we packed our bags and headed out west to shack it up at our grandmothers ranch in San Diego.’

The team created their first collection of designs, pooled their resources, bought a screen-printing machine, and started churning out t-shirts. Before long they outgrew Grandma’s horse stables  and upped sticks to the downtown area of LA known as Skid Row, where they can be found to this day.
